MMM7: the MangMap team's presentation programme

As announced in our previous article, MangMap will be represented at the 7th International Mangrove Conference (MMM7), to be held from 1 to 5 July 2026 in Ishigaki, Japan.

This major event for the mangrove scientific community will cover topics such as the resilience of coastal ecosystems to climate change, public policy for mangrove management, and of course every facet of the study of mangrove coastal socio-ecosystems: forest structure, eco-hydrological dynamics, habitat complexity, biodiversity, carbon sequestration, advances in restoration, and more.

In this context, MangMap itself will be in the spotlight, with a poster presented during a session on 2 July!

The MangMap team members attending the conference will also present their own research: posters on monitoring mangrove carbon stocks under extreme coastal change in French Guiana, and on upscaling estimates of above-ground biomass and carbon stocks in the Guiana Shield. Finally, an oral presentation will address the fine-scale characterisation of structural diversity in French Guiana's mangrove forests to refine carbon mapping.

The conference promises to be rich, packed, and exciting!
